MSM Identities Study

The MSM (men who have sex with men) Identities Study is an ancillary study under the MARI (Minority AIDS Research Initiative) Ecological Study of Sexual Behavior and HIV/STI in African American MSM. The MSM Identities Study is a qualitative study that explores, through focus groups and individual interviews, how African-American MSM in the Jackson, Mississippi MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) socially construct labels and identities within the broad category of MSM in the context of HIV risk (e.g., high-risk sexual behaviors, substance use and abuse, lack of social support). All participants who complete the MSM Identities Study receive a $35 Visa gift card. For more information, contact Dr. Nhan Truong at (601) 957-7710 or e-mail ntruong@mbk-inc.org.
